What a phenomenal experience! A handful of us met up at Julep for a "masked" photo shoot with no expectation of how the project would come together.
The directive was simple. Choose a letter from the word VOTE and use whatever medium that speaks to you, and create that letter. Each letter (V-O-T-E-!) was unique to its creator but flowed together beautifully with an array of inspirational thoughts, opinions and histories. Some spent a week preparing while others spun their visions magically on the fly - all efforts were fantastic and spoke purely from the maker's heart. The variety of items used really inspired me. There were peaches, figs, roses, mushrooms and more! It was gorgeous, organic and meaningful.
We’re embracing differing ideas, opinions and perspectives to create a more equitable and just society. Art does that!
We all have a valuable story to tell and voice to express. Art is one way to express that voice.
I loved how everything came together perfectly because each of us was able to express our voice in our own unique way. I could see everyone cared deeply about this project and their contribution, and that it connected us to each other and a cause larger than ourselves. We’re making an impact together and while we’re apart.
Look deep within yourselves and consider the world you desire to live in, or the world that will be left for the next generation. Then VOTE! Vote for you! Vote for our future and the future of all those who will come after us. When we come together, we can create beauty, we can affect change. Let’s be that beauty and change! Vote!
