My time in Oregon visiting our daughter was everything I needed and more. Restful, Relaxing, Rejuvenating, Inspiring.
I'm lucky that I was able to have this time, mid-wedding season to revamp and hang out with her, exploring her new digs and the areas surrounding Portland. I have been told when I visited Oregon, with it's rainy weather and lush vegetation, that I would fall in love and not want to come back. I fell in love! It was super hard to come back! I now fantasize of having a second home there.
There were a few things that impressed me the most... water! Lots of water and rain! I was told by the locals that this was one of the driest years on record, but the waterfalls along the Columbia River Gorge were flowing and the soil was rich, black and moist. It did my gardening heart happy to trek along the paths with Josie and take in all that Mother Nature had to offer. Forsythia and lilac grew like weeds along the roadways. Forget me nots, columbine and queen annes lace grew in the oddest places. It seemed everywhere I turned there was something popping up. Oh and the dog wood! I have never seen dog wood until this trip. I am smitten and I am definitely going back.
